Common questions
Why is the free tier so generous?
Navigation, safety, and basic social features shouldn't be paywalled. And OpenRydr shows no ads on any tier — the free tier is monetized by riders choosing to upgrade, never by advertising. Our paid tiers focus on what genuinely differentiates the experience — group riding, more offline regions, full ride-history backup, and route-time weather.
What happens if I cancel my subscription?
You move to Free at the end of the period you've paid for — no immediate cutoff. Every ride stays on your phone. Cloud backup goes back to the free 20-day window: about a week after your plan ends, private rides older than 20 days keep their summary and map preview in the cloud, but their detailed GPS trace and photos are removed from our servers. Public and friends-only rides aren't affected.
Do you offer refunds?
Refunds go through the store you paid with, under Apple's or Google's standard refund policies.
Is there a family plan?
Not yet. A subscription covers the one OpenRydr account that bought it.
Can I subscribe on the web?
Soon. Paid plans open at launch, here on openrydr.com. During the beta, testers get Premium free.
What's a Group Trip?
A Group Trip is a long-lived container for a multi-day ride. It has a persistent group chat, a shared photo album, and aggregate stats across all rides within the trip. Good for weekend tours and longer moto trips.
Will prices change?
We may adjust pricing as the product matures. We'll announce changes in advance, and Apple and Google tell you before a higher price applies to your subscription.
