Common questions
I can't sign in / sign in keeps failing
Make sure you're using the same Apple or Google account you originally signed up with. If you've used both in the past, try the other one. If you still can't sign in, email us at support@openrydr.com — include the email address associated with your account if you know it.
The app crashed during a ride
Restart the app. If a ride was in progress, OpenRydr asks whether to Resume ride, Save & finish, or Discard. Your GPS track is kept on your phone. If the app crashes repeatedly during rides, email us with your phone model and iOS/Android version.
GPS is inaccurate or not picking up
Check that OpenRydr has location access in your phone settings. On iPhone, 'While Using the App' is all it needs; also make sure Precise Location is on. On Android, 'Allow only while using the app' is all it needs, as long as you start the ride with OpenRydr open on screen. Low Power Mode (iPhone) or Battery Saver (Android) can limit background activity, so turn it off if you see gaps.
Background recording stops when I lock the screen
Start the ride with OpenRydr open on screen; that's what lets it keep recording after you lock the phone. On iPhone, 'While Using the App' is enough; check it isn't set to 'Never' or 'Ask Next Time'. On Android, 'Allow only while using the app' is all it needs; check it isn't set to 'Don't allow' or 'Ask every time'. Also turn off Low Power Mode or Battery Saver. Still stuck? Email support@openrydr.com with your phone model and OS version.
I want to delete my data or account
In the app: Settings → Privacy & Data → Delete account. You can export your data first, then type DELETE to confirm. Your account and most of its data are permanently deleted right away. A few things are kept, and profile and bike photos are removed on request; openrydr.com/legal/delete-account lists exactly what. To export without deleting, use Settings → Privacy & Data → Export my data. Individual rides, routes and places can be deleted from their own screens. If you've uninstalled the app, email privacy@openrydr.com from the address on your account and we'll process it within a few business days. Note: deleting your account doesn't cancel an App Store or Google Play subscription; cancel that separately in your platform settings.
How do I cancel my subscription?
On iPhone: Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions → OpenRydr. On Android: Google Play app → your profile → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions → OpenRydr.
I'm in a group ride and the leader is unresponsive
Open the group menu from the group button on the map (or the ⋯ menu on the Group tab) and tap Leave Group. While navigating you can choose 'Leave, keep going' to carry on to the destination on your own, or 'Leave & stop' to end navigation and save your ride. Either way you stop sharing your location with the group.
Crash detection sent an alert by mistake
Press and hold 'I'm OK' on the alert screen within the 30-second countdown to cancel it before anyone is notified. (It's a hold, not a tap, so a raindrop or a bump can't cancel a real alert.) If you miss the window and the alert already went out, the app prompts you — the moment you confirm 'I'm OK' — to send your contacts an all-clear letting them know it was a false alarm. You can adjust the crash-detection sensitivity in Settings → Safety & Crash.
Offline maps downloaded but routing still requires a signal
That's expected: offline downloads cover the map, not routing. Planning a route and rerouting both need a data connection. Plan your route before you lose signal; once you're navigating, the map (in areas you've downloaded) and turn-by-turn keep going through dead zones, but if you leave the route the app can't build a new one until you're back in coverage. See which states you've downloaded in Settings → Maps & Offline.
Group ride positions aren't updating for some members
Each rider needs a data connection to share their position. If someone rides into a dead zone, their marker stays at the last spot they reported and fades to grey until they reconnect. A rider who has called Trouble never fades.
Something wrong on the map?
A wrong road name, speed limit or surface, a road that's closed or doesn't exist, or an address search that went to the wrong place: tell us and we'll fix it in a future map update. In the app, go to Profile → Send feedback → Wrong Road Info or Wrong Address. No app handy? Sign in here and drop a pin on the map.
